Lauder, Scottish Borders, Scotland
16th & 17th January 2018
The last real significant snowfall was back in 2010 / 2011, since then its been hit and miss to take nice winter shots in the area. Storm Fionn arrived on 16th January bringing heavy falls of snow to much of west and central Scotland, causing many travel problems but also some good photo opportunities.
Below are a few shots from the last couple of days , I was lucky enough to have the shot of the two cute West Highland Terries published in the Scottish Daily Mail and also the Scottish Daily Star on 17th January.
1- Here's Bud, the crazy cocker spaniel enjoying the snow.
2- West Highland Terriers , Kitty and Teeniebash, in colourful red dogcarts braving the cold weather.
3 - A young boy struggles to stay on his feet in strong winds and drifting snow as he takes his dog for a walk in fields near Lauder, Scottish Borders.
4- The snowy rooftops of Lauder in the Scottish Borders.
5 - Here's Kity again , covered in snow.
6- Local farmers help clear the road from Lauder to Galashiels with a tractor snow plough early on 17th January 2018.
7 & 8- The beautiful Thirlestane Castle, in Lauder, like a scene from Frozen. A woman leads her horse through the deep snow.
9 & 10 Saturday 20th January 2018, the sun was setting and looking glorious , I took a drive up over a very snowy Stow Hill to one of my favourite spots to capture these last two shots. The lower shot appeared in the Sunday Times, page 3., on 21st January 2018
